Our monthly meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Dinner will begin promptly at 7:00 PM. The meeting will begin promptly at 7:30 PM at the Kiwanis Meeting Room, 417 Pilgrim Mill Road in Cumming.

better understand our dogs, people must learn how to read their dog's body

Meeting was standing room only when a large number of our
members came out to receive their awards during SMKC's 1st Annual Awards
Ceremony. In addition SMKC acknowledged our three remaining Charter

has extensive knowledge.

interesting discussion and video presentation on Canine Swim Therapy
and its use in the rehabilitation of arthritis,

Wynn, Executive
Director of the Wynn Clinic for
Therapeutic Alternatives, which specializing in nutrition and
alternative medicine, conducted a lively question and answer
session to the over 50 members and guests who attended the
meeting. Topics ranged from feeding puppies to allergies to
our Government's position on animal supplements. Dr Wynn
is the author of a number of scientific and clinical papers, three
books, and has lectured on the subject of complementary and
alternative veterinary medicine in the United States, Canada, and
England. She also has served on ad hoc panels for the National
Eye Institute and the Office of Alternative Medicine for the
National Institutes of Health. Her co-owned website at

and alternative
veterinary medicine information.

Speaker: A.K.C. Judge Edward McNamee
presented a talk titled "A Short
Visit To The International Dog Shows", regarding the International
Dog Shows conducted
by the Alle Rasse Gruppe.

September Club Meeting
Speaker: due to the events of this
week A.K.C. Judge Edward McNamee
was unable to present his talk on "The Essence of the Breed".
It will be rescheduled.
October 10, 2001 -
October Club Meeting
Speaker: Diane Castle DVM, of Union
Hills Animal Hospital of Canton,
gave a very interesting presentation on
"Agility - Training for Competition".
November 14, 2001 -
November Club Meeting
Speaker: Dr. Gilbert Jacobs of the
Jacobs Consulting Group. Dr. Jacobs is a
DVM - Diplomat, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine
(Cardiology). He is the only board certified veterinary cardiologist in
Georgia. Dr.
Jacobs has done heart screenings at the Atlanta Kennel
Club's dog shows and others in Georgia. Dr.
Jacobs gave an extremely
interesting discussion and slide show about what murmurs mean, how
and why they occur, and how to
determine what they
mean. He also
spoke about different heart diseases in dogs, what congestive heart
disease means, how it is diagnosed, and how it is treated. For
