Jacobs Consulting Group, is a DVM - Diplomat, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Cardiology). He is
one of the few Board certified veterinary cardiologist in Georgia. Dr.
Jacobs has done heart screenings at the Sawnee Mountain Kennel Club and other
Georgia clubs. At this meeting he presented a very informative discussion and slide show about what
heart murmurs mean, how and why they occur,
and how to
determine what they
mean. He also spoke about different heart diseases in dogs, what congestive heart
disease means, how it is diagnosed, and how it is treated.

Speaker:
Forsyth County (District 4) Commissioner David Richards gave an
update on several items of interest in Forsyth County. He discussed his
suggestion of separating the Animal Control office from the Sheriff's Dept. who
use entry-level deputies. Full-time, dedicated people are needed who are
dedicated to animals that want to make this a career. He also spoke on the need
to add specific, very sensible definitions of abuse into the Animal
Control ordinance. He discussed the need to address any
modifications to our ordinance, not the complete
re-writing of it as others advocate. He updated us on the changes
to our county's contract with Dr.
Orr's facility.

members came out to receive their awards during SMKC's 1st Annual Awards
Ceremony. In addition SMKC acknowledged our three remaining Charter

interesting discussion and video presentation on Canine Swim Therapy
and its use in the rehabilitation of arthritis,

presentation to introduce a service that offers affordable access to
top rated law firms and how we can use the service to meet our

both here and in other states? Did you ever need legal representation
and didn't know who to call or found it too expensive? Do you need
legal representation "fighting" local ordinances? And how

binding are breeding/selling contracts?

Wynn, Executive
Director of the Wynn Clinic for
Therapeutic Alternatives, which specializing in nutrition and
alternative medicine, conducted a lively question and answer
session to the over 50 members and guests who attended the
meeting. Topics ranged from feeding puppies to allergies to
our Government's position on animal supplements. Dr Wynn
is the author of a number of scientific and clinical papers, three
books, and has lectured on the subject of complementary and
alternative veterinary medicine in the United States, Canada, and

gave a very interesting presentation on

Speaker: Dr. Gilbert Jacobs of the
Jacobs Consulting Group. Dr. Jacobs is a
DVM - Diplomat, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine
(Cardiology). He is the only board certified veterinary cardiologist in
Georgia. Dr.
Jacobs has done heart screenings at the Atlanta Kennel
Club's dog shows and others in Georgia. Dr.
Jacobs gave an extremely
interesting discussion and slide show about what murmurs mean, how
and why they occur, and how to
determine what they
mean. He also
spoke about different heart diseases in dogs, what congestive heart
disease means, how it is diagnosed, and how it is treated.
